Whistler
Canada!
There are over 40,000 guest beds in Whistler
Valley, but the biggest decision you'll make is whether
to stay in or out of Whistler Village. Staying in the
Village, you can forget your car for the duration of
your visit and walk along cobblestone pathways from
hotel to ski lift to restaurant to pub. Visitors from
around the world stroll from shop to shop and sit at
outdoor cafes. The Village is thus a lively place, but
is never completely quiet. Staying outside the Village,
you'll have a short drive to the lifts or restaurants
(though many places offer shuttle service), but you'll
also have a touch more of that mountain tranquility.
All
the studios, condos, and hotel suites in the Village
are top-quality. By the same token, there's little
to choose from in terms of room quality between a
midrange hotel like the Holiday Inn and a higher-end
hotel like the Pan Pacific. In both you can expect
a gas fireplace, kitchenette, small balcony, sofa
bed, and one or two bedrooms. (The price difference
normally pays for extra amenities: The Pan has a heated
pool and hot tubs on a deck overlooking Whistler Mountain.)
Outside the Village, there is a bit more variety,
including a fine Austrian-style inn.
